Creamy Pumpkin Soup with Homemade Dumplings is a sweet, smooth, and simple dish—perfect for children and comforting everyday meals.

This is a simple pumpkin soup I often make, especially for children. It’s naturally sweet, creamy, and very easy to prepare.
For me, it’s one of those dishes that reminds me of childhood—light, comforting, and always well received at the table.
I usually serve it with small homemade dumplings, which make it more filling and give it a soft, delicate texture. It works well not only for kids but also for adults who like simple, warm meals.
How to choose the best ingredients Pumpkin soup as a sweet delicacy for children
Pumpkin: I use a classic pumpkin, but Hokkaido is also a great option. It has a deeper flavor and you don’t need to peel it, which makes preparation easier
Milk: I usually use full-fat milk for a creamier texture. You can replace it with coconut milk or another plant-based milk if needed
Sugar: Use any sugar you like, or natural alternatives such as xylitol, erythritol, or stevia. Adjust the amount to your taste
Cinnamon: Cinnamon gives the soup its character and a warm, slightly sweet aroma. It works especially well in this version and complements the natural sweetness of the pumpkin

Top Tip for Success
If you're going to make this recipe, make sure to follow this top tip!
- To peel pumpkin safely, cut it in half, then into smaller pieces, and peel with a vegetable peeler—this is easier and safer than working with a whole piece
- Use a sharp knife when cutting—it makes the process more controlled and reduces the risk of slipping
- Don’t throw away the seeds—you can roast them for a simple snack or use them in salads, soups, or bread
- If the pumpkin is very hard, bake it for 10–15 minutes first to soften it
- Cut the pumpkin into similar-sized pieces so it cooks evenly
- Blend the soup while still warm for a smoother texture
- Adjust sweetness at the end—you can always add more, but not take it away
- Add cinnamon gradually so it doesn’t overpower the soup

Easy and delicious pumpkin soup for children
Ingredients
Method
- Mix the flour with salt, add the egg and mix, then knead a little pasta. Mashup such small noodles with your index finger and thumb.
- Pumpkins should be taken from seeds and peeled. My advice is to use a peeler for this as you get hurt very easily. Pumpkin rind is very hard and easy to break. It happened to me several times before I learned it.
- Cut the peeled pumpkins into small cubes, put them in a pot and pour water.
- Cook until tender until it disintegrates. We mix such pumpkins. Add milk and cook.
- When the soup boils, add small dumplings and cook them until tender.
- Serve sprinkled with cinnamon.
