About Daria
Hi! I’m Daria — recipe developer, food photographer, and the creator of MyTastyWall. I share easy, flavorful recipes inspired by global cuisine, anti-inflammatory cooking, and wholesome ingredients, with a growing focus on meals that support women’s health during perimenopause and menopause.
I’m passionate about cooking, eating, and discovering new flavors from around the world. I love books, good music, traveling, and the beautiful paintings of Claude Monet.
Most mornings you’ll find me exactly where I’m happiest — in the kitchen with a cup of good coffee, thinking about the next recipe I want to create.
Cooking has always been a natural part of my life. Over time, it has become not only my passion, but also a way to share creativity, culture, and joy with others.
My First Culinary Memories
My earliest cooking memories come from my grandmother’s kitchen.
She was the one who first introduced me to the magic of homemade food. One of the first things she taught me was how to make perfect homemade noodles for soup. In her kitchen I learned the basics of cooking and many small tricks that I still use today when developing recipes.
Another big influence on my culinary curiosity was my mom’s cookbook collection — especially one called Mediterranean Cuisine.
Growing up in Poland during the Cold War meant that grocery stores often lacked even basic ingredients. Exotic foods were almost impossible to find, and fruits like oranges, mandarins, or bananas were rare treats.
That cookbook opened a door to another world — a world full of flavors I could only imagine.
When I was about ten years old, I became fascinated with a recipe for escargots from that book. The problem was that I couldn’t buy snails anywhere. So I decided to find them myself in the nearby forest.
The recipe used white wine and plenty of garlic. Looking back now, I realize that even then I was already determined to explore new flavors and experiment in the kitchen.
Cooking Experiments as a Kid
I baked my first cake on my own when I was about ten years old as a surprise for my mom.
Because she worked long hours, I often had a lot of freedom in the kitchen. Sometimes my friend and I would cook together before or after school — usually sweet treats.
Of course, not every experiment was successful. There were moments when even our dogs refused to taste what we made.
But that freedom to experiment helped shape my curiosity about food and flavors.
My Love for Cookbooks
Cookbooks are still one of my greatest inspirations.
Over the years, I’ve collected more than 100 cookbooks, and I’m always searching for new ones in bookstores, antique markets, and libraries.
For me, cookbooks are not just collections of recipes — they are stories about culture, traditions, and flavors from around the world.
Finding Inspiration in Food
Inspiration for my recipes comes from many places.
Sometimes it comes from cookbooks, sometimes from travel, and sometimes from completely unexpected moments — like the tiny church on the Greek island of Rhodes where I once had the most delicious Greek salad of my life.
Moments like that remind me how simple ingredients can create unforgettable flavors.
Life Outside the Blog
I’m also a mom of two wonderful children, and family meals are an important part of our everyday life.
The kitchen and dining table are truly the center of our home. It’s where we cook together, share stories from the day, and try new recipes.
My children often inspire new ideas in the kitchen — especially when it comes to desserts and sweet treats.
A Kitchen Full of Curiosity
Today cooking is still about curiosity for me.
I love experimenting with ingredients, discovering flavors from different cuisines, and bringing new life to traditional recipes.
Every dish I create carries a little bit of that same curiosity I had as a child when I first started cooking.
And that curiosity continues to inspire me every day.
